Cultural Report (Academic Year: 2021-2022)

The Cultural Committee of RMD SSOE, Warje, Pune is committed for holistic development of students, by creating an environment where talent in the field of dance, drama and music, etc. are nurtured every year by providing the various opportunities like competitions, Karandak ,etc.

The details of events in which cultural team of our institute participated:

FIRODIYA KARANDAK:

Started 46 years back, in 1974, as the brainchild of Suryakant Kulkarni, the main aim of the competition is to give a platform for college students to showcase their artistic musings. The competition slowly evolved from being a drama competition to one where elements like, sculpture, pottery, painting, orchestra, puppet dancing, and a host of other such events, were incorporated. Moreover Engineering college students started incorporating the usage of electronic gadgets like LCD projectors for shadow plays, high-end amplifiers for their sound systems and other such technological advances, which began giving them the edge over other competitors. Nothing on stage is pre-recorded or taped. Everything is live. Be it songs, music pieces, dances or even on the spot improvisations; everything is done on the wooden platform in person. If anyone is found using any alternate methods the entire college team is immediately disqualified. The whole idea behind Firodiya Karandak is- ÔÇÿCinema on StageÔÇÖ wherein everything needs to be performed live.ÔÇØ Every team is given a time period of one hour in which 15 minutes is given for setting up the props, the lights, orchestra, sound systems and all their paraphernalia. After that they are given 45 minutes to showcase their play. The

length of the play should not exceed 45 minutes nor should it be shorter than 30 minutes. Teams are disqualified if they fail to stick to the time boundaries

Detailed Report:

The main aim of the program was to distribute blankets and sweaters to needy people. The program was started at Swargate Bus Stand, Pune. As a part of charitable activities, the members including students and faculty of Hindutva Pratisthan, RMDSSOE, Warje, Pune distributed Blankets to the poor & helpless people sleeping on roadsides and outside Swargate bus stand.

Almost two-third of the people in India live in poverty. These people are often deprived of basic human needs. Most of the people live on footpaths. Winters at some places can be really harsh and this campaign hoped to offer solution to fight cold. Students of Hindutva Pratishthan decided to donate blankets.

The students reached Swargate at 10:00 pm. It was heart breaking view to see people sleeping out on footpaths on such cold nights. Those people were given the blankets. All the people seemed happy. The students then rode to Shivajinagar after spending almost an hour at Swargate. The remaining blankets were distributed there.

Overall 65 blankets were distributed in the campaign. It was a small gesture to provide a solution to help people fight cold in winters. Every year deaths are caused due to harsh winters and many times nobody takes efforts to find the exact reason behind it. May be itÔǃs not the cold that kills people but the lack of clothing.

Every year, during the season of shivering cold in the months of December & January, the volunteers of Hindutva Pratisthan and students of RMDSSOE visit in search of the poor people on the coldest night from midnight till 3.00 am. The areas covered by the volunteers are Swargate bus stand and Shivaji nagar street. The team find numerous people who sleep in the open sky shivering in cold who do not even have enough clothes to cover their body. The volunteers distribute the blankets to such people. Even the police team also help volunteers to find more and more helpless people. The team of volunteers also distribute blankets to the poor people and kids residing in slums. Every year, Hindutva Pratisthan and students of  RMDSSOE team donates more than 50 blankets to the needy people.

Detailed Report:

Like every year, Hindutva Pratishthan decided to help the children in need. SAVALI is a registered charitable trust working for the Mentally Retarded and Cerebral Palsy children and adults. It is non-profitable and non-governmental organization. SAVALI is working for these under privileged individuals for last more than 25 years. Hindutva Pratishthan makes sure to help only the non-governmental organizations.

Students of RMD Sinhgad School of Engineering reached SAVALI Foundation in Bhusari Colony, Kothrud at 12:30 pm. 45 members were present at the Foundation. Grocery, biscuits and fruits were donated to the children. The members spent almost one hour with the students playing with them and talking. While doing so, the students made sure to maintain discipline at the Foundation.

It was nice to see the students read and write. Two of the children performed dance which was mesmerising. Before leaving, the in-charge mam at the foundation gave students the information of the foundation and how the authorities work hard to take care of the SAVALI institute and the children. The donation program ended at around 1:45 pm. This way the donation drive at SAVALI Foundation was successfully completed.

Detailed Report:

Third day of social week consisted of donation at Snehwan Sanstha. Farmers have been committing suicides since 1990 due to draughts, floods, loans and many other reasons. SNEHWAN was founded by Ashok Deshmane in 2015 to take the responsibility of education of children of those farmers who committed suicides or are draught affected. The foundation is developing since then and now around 50 children are taken care of.

As the SNEHWAN Sanstha was located far away from the college, not many students were able to go there. Around 13 students of RMD Sinhgad School of Engineering were present at the donation drive. They reached the place at 6:00 pm. Ashok sir himself introduced the students to the children and the institute. He gave the information about the institute and how they work to take care of the children. They also have proper arrangements to provide good meal to the children.

As the foundation is developing, they had started construction of compound wall in order to provide safety to children. Hindutva Pratishthan donated 15 sacks of cement to the foundation. Biscuits were also donated to the children. Due to lack of time, students spent there only few minutes. It was good to see that the children in need are really taken care of. This way the donation drive at SNEHWAN Sanstha was successfully completed.
