Disabled Friendly, Barrier Free Environment
Rasiklal M. Dhariwal Sinhgad Technical Institutes Campus has taken initiatives to create a disabled-friendly, barrier free environment. The specially-abled students must be given an environment conducive towards their learning and growth.
The institute follows all the norms of AICTE, UGC and Savitribai Phule Pune University for maintaining a disabled-friendly, barrier free environment. In the last 5 years there were no specially-abled students in the institute. However, there are various facilities created for them such as:
- Ramps are provided for disabled students in the institute
- Wheelchairs for disabled persons and sufficiently large space are available for proper movement.
- Lifts for easy access to classrooms
- Specially-abled washrooms
- Signage including tactile path, lights, display boards and signposts
- Campus clinic
- Central library with Braille books.(Refer following table)
- Assistive technology and facilities for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan) accessible website, screen-reading software, mechanized equipment.
- Wheelchairs for disabled persons and sufficiently large space are available for proper movement.
Assistive Facilities:
The equal opportunity, barrier-free environment is ensured by providing human assistance along with facilities for disabled students during examinations. The concern of time duration, facility of scribe during all types of examinations for physically challenged persons is considered as a special provision for disabled students. Sign-posts are provided at various locations in the institute. Signage including tactile path, lights, display boards and signposts are available on campus. The assistance of software for visually impaired people is implemented for Website Reading. The Screen Reader extension link (ChromeVox) is provided on the website for screen reading purposes.
A help desk has been made available for disabled persons to facilitate any enquiry and information human assistance is provided for disabled people. During examination, the assistance of scribes is provided by the examination department.
