DEPARTMENT OF FIRST YEAR ENGINEERING
About Us
Department of First Year Engineering consists of four departments.
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Physics
- Engineering Chemistry
- Electrical Engineering
These departments are part of engineering undergraduate courses and started functioning in the academic year 2011-12.
The First Year Engineering Department serves as a springboard for all prospective engineers. It comprises various disciplines like Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics & Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, and IT Engineering.
The department induction program marks the beginning of the semester – I. It includes various activities like proficiency module, creativity and culture, inspirational lectures, universal human values, physical activities (yoga, outdoor and indoor games), professional training, etc., to build a strong student teacher relationship which will play a significant role in shaping the career of the student. To strengthen the relation between the teacher and the student, the department executes the Teacher Guardian Scheme, The Teacher Guardian(mentor) scheme is a very effective practice to observe the academic progress of the students. Under this scheme a group of 30 students is assigned to a teacher named as Teacher Guardian. TG’s keep both the student and the parent updated about all activities and notices from time to time under various categories like information about syllabus, academic calendar, Examination,time-table, scholarships, remedial lectures, results, etc. Counselling sessions for both parents and students are carried out based on available attendance data and the academic performance of the student. The continuous assessment of the student through various assignments and test patterns both in house and university level exams have been effective in monitoring the academic progress of the student. Throughout the semester various co-curricular and extracurricular activities are encouraged for the overall development of the student.Experienced and qualified faculty play a significant part in shaping the career goals of first-year engineering students. The student’s multifaceted growth is the main focus in order to prepare them for society’s needs by providing them with the necessary skills.
